What We Believe

God's family, here at Community Christian Church, believes in a sovereign, all knowing, all powerful God who is Love. He has expressed Himself through three persons: God the Father, God the Son-Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit, while still retaining His uniqueness as One. We believe God created all thins and desires to have an intimate personal Love relationship with every human being. Yet mankind's self-centered nature (sin nature) causes a separation between God, who is perfect, and each person. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for each individual's sin. Jesus came to earth through the virgin birth of Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified on a cross and physically resurrected three days later. After appearing to His close friends, as well as five hundred other witnesses, He went to be with His Father, and all those in relationship with Him anxiously await His return. We know all this to be true through the inspired inherent writings God has provided us called the Bible.

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, and that repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, is the only way to come into relationship with God. We are now a new creation in Christ and justified and should not be ashamed to confess it before others. "It is by grace (a free gift of God) we are saved, by faith, (trust in what Christ did for us) not from ourselves. It is a gift from God, not of works (we can't take credit or merit for our salvation)" Ephesians 2:8-9.

Therefore, we practice water baptism by immersion and the regular taking of communion as Christ commanded us. We do not believe that either of these practices "saves" us or maintains our salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our faith in Christ. Baptism symbolizes the dying to our old selves and raised a new creation in Christ.
